Microneedling with Radiofrequency

Dr. JoAnna Nguyen performs Vivace microneedling with radiofrequency in the office to help improve the appearance of the skin.

In the world of skin health and rejuvenation, collagen is the holy grail.  As we age, the amount of collagen produced by our skin declines gradually, leading to skin that appears less vibrant and more dehydrated. For this reason, skincare and procedures that induce the production of collagen are sought after.  Vivace, microneedling with radiofrequency, pairs two very effective collagen inducing modalities into one treatment to achieve compounding improvement with minimal downtime.

How does it work?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that induces the formation of collagen using very fine needles that puncture the surface of the skin.  This induces the body to initiate the healing process, creating collagen and elastin.  Microneedling coupled with radiofrequency energy delivers additional energy to the deeper layers of the skin for even more dramatic results.  This effectively tightens the skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and acne scarring.  The precise depth control of the Vivace microneedling system enables me to treat each area 3 times at multiple depths, compounding the results.  Immediately after the treatment, there are many microchannels in the skin which allow for the delivery of potent medical grade skincare to the deep layers of the skin. For microneedling aftercare, Dr. Nguyen applies a peptide mask in the office to help reduce redness and recommends using the SENTÉ Dermal Repair Cream repair cream and Environ Avance Tri-Peptide Complex + Avance DFP312 elixir following the treatment.

Dr. JoAnna Nguyen performs Vivace microneedling with radiofrequency to improve aging skin, hypserpigmentation, skin laxity, stretch marks and acne scars.

What does microneedling with radiofrequency help improve?

  • Uneven skin tone/texture

  • Enlarged pores

  • Fine lines/wrinkles

  • Facial skin laxity

  • Acne scars

  • Scars

  • Rosacea

  • Melasma

  • Stretch marks

Is microneedling with radiofrequency safe to use on all skin tones?

Yes, it is!  Unlike lasers which may have an ablative effect, the skin remains largely intact after a microneedling treatment.  This makes it very safe for people of all skin types.

How long does the treatment take?

Typically, numbing cream is applied for 30 minutes and the actual treatment takes approximately 30 minutes depending on the treatment area.  Factor in time to prepare the skin and treat it afterwards, allow yourself at least an hour and a half for your treatment.

How long is recovery time?

The skin may appear red for a few hours after treatment, but will return to normal by the following day.   Tiny microchannels will be created in your skin which will allow for the delivery of medical grade skincare and or stem cells deeper into the skin.  These micro channels remain open for up to 72 hours and it is best to avoid wearing makeup during this time to allow for proper healing. You will start to see the improvement over the weeks following your treatment.
